Are we just becoming out of touch with reality?

I was waiting to be seen for an appointment today at work. On the television in the waiting area CNN Headline News was on. The story the caught my attention was about a family that did not allow their daughter to use her cell phone to text for one week. It seems the young lady had some outrageous number of texts the previous billing period, well over seven THOUSAND if I remember correctly.

The daughter seemed quite pleased with herself. As she saw an improvement in her school grades over the course of the week. She claimed to have gotten an A on a Spanish test. She felt that not texting for a week was helpful as some school nights she would be texting up until 1:00 a.m.. HMMMMMM

Her mother was also pleased with the results as she stated, “We went out to eat for dinner several times that week”.  “While at the restaurant we actually had conversations instead of sitting there watching her text people”. HMMM and More HMMMMMMM.

Just a thought here. Perhaps instilling the fact that for a teen a cell phone is a not a right but a privilege. If grades were suffering because of the use of the cell phone perhaps even limiting its use from the offset? Of course who has the time when you must ensure that you don't go to the same restaurant twice in one week, let alone three times. Buy God family life these days is demanding. But hey, at least the family set down for dinner together. So what if it was with a bunch of other families.  At least there were distractions so the family didn't have to focus on each other....

SO WHAT

So I'm starting a blog, so what.

So I'm speaking my mind, so what.

So your reading this, so what.

So most people are in debt more than $20,000, so what.

So 40% of our income goes right back to the government, so what.

So our transportation system is dependent on the automobile, so what.

So our logistic systems for food are dependent on trucks, so what.

So the most of our food comes from big corporations, so what.

So most of our nation could not raise it's own food, so what.

So other nations control much of our real-estate, so what.

So we provide basic services to people in our country illegally, so what.

So 10% of us are out of work, so what.

So our given rights are now a matter of the government's whim, so what.

So I'll go off and fight a war that most of us don't agree with, so what.

So our nation is in distress, so what.

So you did not speak your mind, so what.

So you did not vote, so what.

So you end up poor living in squalor with little food, working for so big offshore corporation. While you send most of your hard earned money to the government that does not care that they are getting nearly half of your paycheck, and putting our grandchildren further in debt than we are. All the while we are fighting two wars that 60% of the country does not want us to be in. But our children want to go to college so they join the military to ensure that they can at least pay for an associate degree. SO WHAT!
